Hilton Garden Inn is Open. Will 35th Street become the new “Hotel Row?”

With the new Hampton Inn already doing a brisk business on 35th Street, just east of Sixth Avenue, its new 31-story neighbor, has opened its doors and added another branded hotel to the growing hospitality scene along the block. The new Hilton Garden Inn New York / West 35th Street adds 298 guest rooms, including two suites, to the increasing inventory of comfortable, moderately-priced lodging options in the neighborhood.

“This location could not be better for us. We are bringing a major brand to a street that might one day overtake 44th Street as Manhattan’s Hotel Row,” says General Manager Hilda Garvey. “They say that a crowd attracts a crowd and I believe there’s plenty of business here for everybody,” adds the Irish-born hospitality veteran with more than a dozen years experience in New York City hotels.

The new hotel will boast many Hilton benefits, including complimentary high-speed internet access, a 24-hour fitness center exclusively for the use of guests, a business center and two lounges, one with flat-screen TV, the other with a working fireplace. The meeting room will be available for private parties of up to 14 people for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Every guest room has cable TV and a hospitality center which includes a microwave oven, coffee maker and a fridge.

A 114-seat restaurant will offer a hot and cold breakfast buffet, room service and a bar snack menu. The bar will also have outdoor seating on the street level patio, accessed via the bar and directly from the high-ceilinged main entrance lobby.

“We expect we will get a lot of business from the nearby fashion district, plus business travelers during the week, leisure visitors on the weekends and international group travelers. We are looking forward to being a part of this busy neighborhood,” adds Ms. Garvey.
